What is LMPC?

An LMPC (Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity) certificate verifies compliance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodity) Rules, 2011. Traders who import pre-packaged goods must obtain this certificate. 

A legal metrology certificate is issued by the Legal Metrology Director of the Central Government or the State Legal Metrology Controller. An application must be submitted to the relevant authorities by the trader seeking this certificate. Businesses are then verified and identified by government agencies. 

If The LMPC is issued in the trader’s name, everything looks fine and legal. This certification requires periodic validation. Registrations are valid for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years. Either the state or the federal government can issue this certificate. 

It depends on the market that an importer is targeting. Choose the state government for certification if the good is intended only for sale within the state. However, if there are multiple states involved in the market, the central government must give permission.

4) Declaration that will be placed on the product 

5) Aadhaar Card Number

6) Partnership deed, if a partnership business, or Memorandum of Articles, if a corporation

7) Proof of address and identity

The firm must also provide several additional documents for a thorough inspection. Usually, these IDs and proofs are different for different states. Among these documents are a location map of the official building, a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from Pollution or any other board, and a proof of date of birth.
